Radiohead chose not to release any commercial singles or music videos to promote Kid A, conducting few interviews and photoshoots. The recording sessions produced over 40 tracks, with 20 of them being finished the band saved half of the finished material for their next album Amnesiac, which was released the following year. Radiohead recorded and co-produced Kid A with OK Computer producer Nigel Godrich in Paris, Copenhagen, Gloucestershire, and their hometown of Oxford from January 1999 to April 2000. As a result, Radiohead incorporated synthesisers, drum machines, and the ondes Martenot into their instrument lineup, as well as influences from genres such as krautrock and electronica. After suffering a near-mental breakdown while touring in support of their previous album OK Computer, the band's lead singer and songwriter Thom Yorke envisioned a slight change in musical direction for their next album. It was first released on 2 October 2000 in the United Kingdom by Parlophone and a day later in the United States by Capitol Records. Nigel Godrich Kid A is the fourth studio album by English rock band Radiohead.
